Inspirit Foundation and IFSSA “Supporting Muslim Communities” Session (Fall 2017)

AMPAC VP External Affairs Nakita Valerio presented to Muslim community organizers, social workers and leadership about love-based advocacy and to address the following questions: What does Islamophobia look like in Edmonton? Who are the local heroes addressing this issue? How can their work be supported and amplified? What other pressing challenges do Edmonton Muslim communities face?  The workshop was well-received and the day was wonderfully productive.

Love-Based Advocacy: AMPAC Speaks Truth to Power at Tarjuma (Spring 2017)

AMPAC VP External Affairs Nakita Valerio spoke to the gathering at Tarjuma on our community-building initiatives and Muslim strategies to combating discrimination in all forms, especially alongside Islamic Family and Social Services Association – IFSSA’s representative, Sarah Hanafi. The crowd was very large and engaged.
